National Concert Hall
What to Expect
Christy Moore at the National Concert Hall is one of those evenings that people talk about for years afterwards. There’s no spectacle, no production values, just one of the finest Irish songwriters and performers of the past century with a guitar and a room of people who know every word.
Moore’s catalogue spans five decades of Irish music and Irish life. Songs about emigration, the political tumult of the 1970s and 80s, the ordinary moments of Irish experience that somehow become universal. His voice has changed with age, deepened and roughened, but it carries more weight for it. The way he inhabits a song live is something that recordings can’t fully capture.
The National Concert Hall is acoustically one of the best rooms in Ireland for this kind of performance. It’s intimate enough that you feel close to the stage even in the upper tiers, and the audience that turns out for Christy Moore at the NCH is the kind that knows how to listen. An evening well spent.
