About This Tour

Our Guide is a post-graduate of history from one of Dublin’s leading universities. You will be taken on a historical walking tour through the medieval and Georgian architecture of Dublin. You will learn about the unique character of the city. You will learn about early Christianity, Vikings, Normans, Irish writers, musicians, colonisation by Britain and the road to independence.

Itinerary

1. Your Guide will talk about the history of the street and its famous sites such as the GPO and how it was the headquarters of the 1916 rebellion (20 min)
2. Our Guide will walk around the outside of the buildings at College Green such as Trinity College and the old Irish Parliament. (15 min)
3. Our Guide will walk you through this beautiful park where you will see statues from famous Irish historical writers, revolutionaries whilst witnessing the natural beauty of the trees, flowers, lakes and swans. (10 min)
4. Our Guide will walk you through the pedestrianised and historic Grafton street. This street has an atmosphere like to other, it is brought to life with the street’s buskers, it s also known for its shopping boutiques and the Bewley’s café, the oldest café in Dublin. (10 min)
5. Our Guide will walk you through the gardens of Dublin castle. We will also tour the outside of the historic buildings at Dublin Castle. Here you will step back in time viewing architecture from the 17th and 12th centuries. (15 min)
6. Our Guide will walk you through the quiet historic streets and to the famous section of the district where one may view a beautiful 19th century bar with similar name to the area (20 min)
7. St. Patrick’s park at St. Patrick’s Cathedral is a beautiful park where St. Patrick himself baptised new converts. The park is ideally located to admire architecture of the Cathedral and to take photos from the outside. (10 min)
8. Our Guide will walk you around the outside of the 13th and 17th century buildings of Dublin Castle (10 min)
