Then you head for the Dublin Mountains and the ruins of the Hellfire Club, a place with a reputation so sinister that locals still cross themselves when they pass it.

The hike up Montpelier Hill is not long but it is atmospheric, especially when actors appear from behind ancient walls to deliver scenes that will make you jump. The views from the top are genuinely spectacular, with all of Dublin spread out below you, which creates a brilliant contrast with the horror unfolding around you.
