About This Tour

Ireland’s Eye is a small uninhabited island about a kilometre off Howth Head, and this family-run ferry has been taking people across since 1947. The same family that started the service still operates it today.

The crossing takes a few minutes from Howth Harbour. On the island, able-bodied passengers can disembark via steep rock steps and explore at will, including the 19th-century Martello Tower and the west-facing beach where swimming is possible. The island is a seabird sanctuary with puffins, gannets, and cormorants all nesting here.

From 30 EUR per person. Duration approximately 2 hours including island time. Return ferry included. Disembarkation on the island weather permitting. Departs Howth Harbour. No facilities on the island.
