About This Tour

Castlewellan Lake sits in the shadow of the Mourne Mountains, sheltered by ancient forest and overlooked by a fairytale castle. It is one of the most beautiful spots in Northern Ireland, and also one of the best places to try stand-up paddleboarding for the first time.

The team at the lakeside centre takes care of everything. You will be kitted out with a top-of-the-range SUP board, wetsuit, buoyancy aid, paddle and all the accessories you need. After a friendly introduction to the basics, you are free to explore at your own pace. Stay and splash around in the calm waters of Castle Bay, or venture further along the Lake Trail where the views of the mountains and forest are genuinely spectacular.

This experience works brilliantly for families, couples, solo adventurers and groups of friends. No previous experience is required, and the sheltered conditions make it far less intimidating than open-water paddleboarding. When you are done on the water, the centre has warm showers and changing facilities waiting. It is one of those days that leaves you buzzing.
