Itinerary

1. We will explore the gardens and grounds of Dublin Castle. We will see the mixture of Georgian architecture, a neo-Gothic style church and a medieval tower. For over 700 years, the castle was the seat of British power in Ireland. (30 min)
2. We will visit the Christ Church Cathedral grounds and learn all about Viking Dublin. This church is located in the heart of the ancient medieval city and holds many fascinating facts and stories. (15 min)
3. Between 1974 and 1981, archaeologists excavated what turned out to be the largest Viking settlement discovered outside Scandinavia. Controversies and protest movements arose to save the site. (10 min)
4. A vibrant area of the city, known for its nightlife, street musicians and art galleries. (15 min)
5. On Easter Monday, 1916, the Irish Proclamation was read on O’Connell Street and a bloody rebellion broke out. This is one of the main avenues of the capital, steeped in revolutionary history. (15 min)
6. This is the old pre-independence parliament building. When the United Kingdom was created by the Act of Union, Irish politicians took their seats at Westminster. (10 min)
7. Ireland’s answer to Oxford and Cambridge, opened in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I. (10 min)
