Vicar Street
Tony Cantwell went from making viral impressions online to headlining one of Dublin’s biggest live venues. That trajectory tells you two things: the man is funny, and people can’t get enough of him.
What to Expect
Cantwell’s comedy is a mix of razor-sharp character work, impressions that are uncannily accurate, and observational humour rooted in the absurdity of Irish life. His online clips have racked up millions of views, but the live show is where the real magic happens. On stage, he can hold a room with the same ease whether he’s doing five minutes of crowd work or launching into a fully formed character piece.
His impressions are famous - from political figures to sports personalities to that lad you know from every GAA club in the country - but they’re never just about getting the voice right. There’s always a joke underneath, a point being made, or a story being told. That’s what separates great character comedy from just doing voices.
Vicar Street is the right venue for him. Big enough to feel like an event, intimate enough that the comedy lands properly.
