Smock Alley Theatre
Smock Alley’s Late Night Series is where Dublin theatre gets experimental. Every Friday and Saturday at 10:30pm, the theatre’s smaller spaces host short-form productions from emerging companies, solo performers, and established artists trying something new.
What to Expect
Shows are typically 45 to 60 minutes, no interval. The work ranges from new writing to devised theatre, monologues to physical theatre. Quality varies, which is the point - this is a space for risk-taking, and some of the best new Irish theatre has had its first outing in these late-night slots.
Smock Alley itself is a remarkable building. Dating back to 1662, it’s the oldest theatre site in Dublin, and the vaulted basement spaces have an atmosphere that no purpose-built venue can match.
