Rick Astley is one of those artists who’s had two careers. The first made him a global pop star in the late 80s. The second, built on the back of the most iconic meme in internet history and a genuinely brilliant comeback album, has made him a bona fide arena act. He’s playing the 3Arena, and yes, he’s going to play That Song. But there’s so much more to the man than a meme.
What to Expect
Astley’s live show is a revelation if you’ve never seen him. That voice - the one that made everyone think he was a 40-year-old soul singer when he was actually a 21-year-old from Lancashire - is still absolutely massive. He performs with a full band, covers everything from his 80s hits through to his acclaimed recent albums, and has genuine stage presence and charm.
Special guest Gabrielle is the cherry on top. Dreams, Rise, and Give Me a Little More Time are stone-cold classics, and she’s a brilliant live performer in her own right. Together, it’s a double bill that’s worth every penny.
Tickets are reportedly selling fast, so don’t hang about if you want to be there.
