Blues and soul at Arthur’s on a Friday night. Otis leans into the classic end of the tradition: the kind of music that doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is, played by people who know what they’re doing in a room that suits the material.
Arthur’s Blues and Jazz Club on Thomas Street has been doing this long enough to know what it’s doing. It’s not a large venue, which is part of why it works for this kind of music. Blues and soul are small-room genres at heart, built for spaces where you can feel the band and the room responding to each other.
What to expect
9pm on a Friday, which means a proper night out. The set will run late enough to feel like an event. Come ready for a full evening; Thomas Street at that hour has its own energy, and Arthur’s adds to it.
The format is live performance, roots music played straight. Dress however you like; it’s not that kind of place.
About the venue
Arthur’s Blues and Jazz Club is at 28 Thomas Street, Dublin 8, in the Liberties. Close to Christ Church, Patrick Street, and the Guinness Storehouse area.
Getting there
Bus routes 51B, 123, and 77A serve Thomas Street. Luas Red Line (Fatima stop) is about a 10-minute walk. Tickets on Eventbrite.
