Mik Pyro's Blues Cartel

Bank Holiday Sunday, 5pm, Mik Pyro’s Blues Cartel on Thomas Street. That’s a very good combination. Mik Pyro is a fixture on the Dublin blues circuit, and the Cartel format brings together a group of musicians for a set that tends to feel more like a session than a rehearsed show. Good blues often does.

The May Bank Holiday weekend is one of those rare times when Dublin permits itself to relax into a Sunday evening without Monday guilt. Arthur’s is the right venue to take advantage of that.

What to expect

5pm start means you can make a proper afternoon of it. Come early, get a drink in, settle in. The Cartel format means you might hear different players than last time, which keeps the set interesting even if you’ve seen Pyro before.

The Liberties is worth a wander before or after: Thomas Street has food options, and the surrounding area has more if you want to build a full afternoon and evening around the gig.

About the venue

Arthur’s Blues and Jazz Club is at 28 Thomas Street, Dublin 8, in one of the city’s most historically significant neighbourhoods. The Guinness Storehouse is a short walk away, as are the cathedrals of Patrick’s and Christ Church.
