Merrion Square is one of Dublin’s finest Georgian squares and its park is a lovely green space right in the city centre. Surrounded by stunning Georgian townhouses, the park has beautiful flower beds, mature trees, a playground, and the famous Oscar Wilde statue.
What to Expect
A well-maintained city centre park with a proper playground for kids, colourful flower beds, benches for people-watching, and the reclining Oscar Wilde statue on the corner (one of Dublin’s most photographed spots). On Sundays, Art on the Railings transforms the west side into an open-air gallery.
The National Gallery of Ireland, Natural History Museum (the Dead Zoo), and Government Buildings are all on the square.
Good to Know
- Free entry, open dawn to dusk
- Good playground for young children
- Oscar Wilde statue on the northwest corner
- Art on the Railings every Sunday
- Natural History Museum and National Gallery right there (both free)
- Leinster House (Irish Parliament) is on the square
