Vicar Street
The Happy Mondays are coming to Dublin, and if you grew up with Madchester or you just appreciate a proper good time, this is your night. Shaun Ryder’s crew are playing two nights at Vicar Street, and the first one’s already sold out. That should tell you everything.
What to Expect
The Happy Mondays practically invented the sound of the late 80s and early 90s Manchester scene. Tracks like Step On, Kinky Afro, and 24 Hour Party People are stone-cold classics, and they sound even better in a sweaty venue with a crowd that knows every word. Ryder’s charisma on stage is undeniable, the grooves are heavy, and the atmosphere at a Mondays gig is always electric.
They’ve been touring regularly in recent years and the reviews have been consistently brilliant. This isn’t a nostalgia act going through the motions. They’re a band who genuinely love playing, and it shows. Vicar Street is the ideal venue for it too. Close enough to feel the bass in your chest, big enough to have a proper crowd.
The April 22nd show is sold out, so April 23rd is your chance. Don’t sit on it.
