"Giving Voice to Arts" with Conductor/Composer Peter Joyce

“Giving Voice to Arts” is a monthly conversation club at the Goethe-Institut Irland on Merrion Square, and the April edition features conductor and composer Peter Joyce. The format is a conversation rather than a lecture: discussion about the practice of making art, the decisions behind it, and what it means to work in classical music and opera in Ireland.

Peter Joyce works across conducting and composition, which gives him a dual perspective that’s worth hearing: conductors and composers inhabit different relationships with the same music, and someone who does both has a particular insight into how the two roles inform each other.

What to expect

6:30pm Wednesday at the Goethe-Institut Irland, 37 Merrion Square, Dublin 2. The Goethe-Institut is a German cultural institution housed in a beautiful Georgian building on one of Dublin’s finest squares. The setting is half the reason to go: it’s one of Dublin’s more elegant spaces for a weekday evening event.

The conversation club format means there’s room for audience questions. Come with something you want to ask.
