Dublin Coffee Festival
Dublin runs on coffee. That’s not an exaggeration. This city’s specialty coffee scene has exploded in the last decade, and the Dublin Coffee Festival is where it all comes together under one roof.
What to Expect
Think of it as a playground for anyone who takes their brew seriously (or wants to start). You’ll find Irish roasters showcasing single-origin beans, baristas throwing down in latte art and brewing competitions, and hands-on workshops where you can learn everything from pour-over technique to coffee cupping. The exhibition floor is packed with stalls from some of Ireland’s best independent roasters and café equipment suppliers.
There are tastings everywhere you turn, and yes, you’ll be absolutely wired by lunchtime, but that’s part of the craic. Beyond the coffee itself, expect food pairings, panel talks on sustainability in the coffee industry, and plenty of gear to geek out over if you’re into home brewing.
Good to Know
Tickets start from €15 and usually include a set number of tasting tokens. VIP and masterclass tickets are available at higher price points and tend to sell out, so book early if you’re keen on a specific session. The festival runs over three days, so you don’t have to cram everything into one visit.
It gets busy, especially on Saturday afternoons. If you prefer a calmer experience, the Friday morning session is your best bet. Bring a tote bag. You’ll end up buying beans.
Getting There
The RDS in Ballsbridge is well served by public transport. The DART stops at Sandymount or Lansdowne Road, both within a 10-minute walk. Dublin Bus routes 4, 7, and 18 all pass nearby. If you’re cycling, there’s bike parking at the venue. Driving is an option too. The RDS has its own car park, but spaces go quickly during events, so arriving early helps. From the city centre, it’s about a 20-minute walk along the canal, which is a lovely route on a dry day.
