Craft and Draft: O Brother Brewing with Artist Claire Schorman in Greystones

O Brother Brewing is one of the more serious craft breweries in the greater Dublin area. Based in Greystones in Co. Wicklow, they make well-regarded pale ales, IPAs, and stouts that have built a following among people who take craft beer seriously. The taproom at Belmont Demesne is also the kind of venue where a Saturday afternoon event makes complete sense: the setting, the beer, and the vibe are all pointing in the same direction.

Craft and Draft pairs local artist Claire Schorman with the taproom for a guided painting session. You get a canvas, the materials, instruction from an artist who knows what she’s doing, and O Brother beer to drink while you paint. The combination works because both things are about making something you can be proud of, and neither of them demands perfection.

What to Expect

A Saturday afternoon session from noon. Claire Schorman leads the group through a painting - typically a landscape or still life that’s achievable for beginners while still being interesting for people with more experience. The pace is relaxed, the instruction is practical, and the beer helps.

The O Brother taproom is an excellent setting. Greystones in April on a clear day is genuinely worth the journey from Dublin, and the DART makes it easy.

Getting There

O Brother Brewing is at Belmont Demesne in Greystones, Co. Wicklow. Greystones DART station is the best way to get there - regular services from Connolly, Tara Street, Pearse, and all stations along the south Dublin coast. The journey from the city centre takes around 45 minutes. From Greystones station it’s a short walk or taxi to Belmont Demesne.
