What to Expect
Christy Moore at Vicar Street is one of those events that Dublin music fans hold onto. He plays the room regularly enough that it feels like a homecoming rather than a tour stop, and this particular show carries extra weight: proceeds benefit Women’s Aid, the national organisation supporting people affected by domestic violence in Ireland.
The concert on 19 April is a distinct show from his sold-out performance at the National Concert Hall on 25 April. This is Vicar Street, which seats around 1,000 and has the kind of intimacy that suits Christy’s style. Expect the full span of the catalogue: Luka Bloom collaborations, Planxty-era material, Moving Hearts, and the decades of solo work that have made him one of the most significant figures in Irish music.
The atmosphere at these shows tends to be something between a church and a pub. People come to listen, and they do.
