Vicar Street
The Blindboy Podcast has exceeded 80 million listeners globally. The New York Times called it a cultural phenomenon. And now it’s live at Vicar Street, which is about as good as it gets for a night of ideas, stories, and absolute craic.
What to Expect
If you know the podcast, you know what Blindboy does. He weaves between short fiction, social commentary, mental health discussions, art theory, Irish history, and whatever other rabbit hole catches his interest - and somehow it all hangs together beautifully. The live show takes that energy and amplifies it. There’s an immediacy to being in the room with him that a podcast can’t quite capture.
Previous guests on the podcast have included Cillian Murphy, Spike Lee, Bernadette Devlin McAliskey, and Emma Dabiri. The live shows tend to be more solo affairs - Blindboy on stage, plastic bag on head, working through ideas in real time with an audience that’s right there with him.
It’s not stand-up comedy in the traditional sense, but it’s frequently hilarious. It’s not a lecture, but you’ll learn something. It’s not therapy, but you might feel better after it. It’s its own thing, and there’s nothing else quite like it in Ireland.
