Chapters Bookstore on Parnell Street is one of the great independent bookshops of the north city, and it’s a particularly good setting for an author evening: shelves of books floor to ceiling, a loyal customer base that turns up for events like this, and a sense that you’re at a bookshop rather than a venue that happens to be selling books for the night.
June O’Sullivan’s second novel The Sky Is Not Enough is the occasion. She’s in conversation with Jackie Lynam to mark its release - the kind of event where you hear about the book from the person who wrote it, which remains one of the better ways to decide whether a novel is for you.
What to Expect
An in-conversation author event: June O’Sullivan and Jackie Lynam discussing the new novel, the writing process, what’s in the book and why it matters, and whatever else the conversation opens up. Events at Chapters tend to be well attended by people who actually buy and read books, which makes for a good audience for an author.
The Sky Is Not Enough is O’Sullivan’s second novel, which means this is a writer who’s established enough to be worth tracking. Author events at independent bookshops have a warmth that larger literary festival settings don’t always manage.
Books will almost certainly be available to buy and get signed on the night.
