Lough Bray is a glacial lake high in the Wicklow Mountains above Enniskerry, sitting in a corrie carved by ice-age glaciers. The walk up from the car park on the R115 takes you past Upper and Lower Lough Bray with views across a landscape that manages to feel genuinely remote despite being less than an hour from Dublin city centre. It’s one of the best short walks in the Dublin/Wicklow hills.
This particular walk is organised specifically for adults with ADHD. The thinking is straightforward: time in nature, particularly time moving through it, has documented benefits for attention and mood regulation. A guided group walk provides structure, company, and a shared experience with people who understand what ADHD is actually like.
What to Expect
A guided hike of moderate difficulty at Lough Bray, meeting at the car park on the R115. The terrain is open hillside and rocky path. The pace is social rather than competitive. The guide knows the route and knows the community they’re walking with.
This is a morning event starting at 10am on a Saturday. April in Wicklow means variable weather - conditions can be clear and mild or changeable. The walk itself takes around two to three hours depending on pace and how much time is spent taking in the view.
Good to Know
- Meet at Lough Bray Car Park on the R115 at 10am
- Bring waterproof layers - April weather in the mountains is unpredictable
- Sturdy footwear is essential; trail shoes or hiking boots
- Bring water and a snack
- This event is specifically designed for ADHD adults - the pace and structure reflect that
- Getting there requires a car or lift-sharing - public transport doesn’t reach Lough Bray
Getting There
Lough Bray is on the R115 (the old Military Road) above Enniskerry in Co. Wicklow. Driving from Dublin, take the N11/M11 south and follow signs for Enniskerry, then continue up the mountain road. The journey from Dublin city centre takes approximately 45 to 50 minutes. There is no regular public transport to the car park - coordinate with the group about lift-sharing if needed.
